| Back in the 70s it was simple: the bars were dank and windowless, everyone had moustaches and sex was raw, loveless and easy to find. You were either butch or nelly, top or bottom, a hustler or a john — and these identity choices could be easily advertised to the other fags that night at the Ramrod using a colored hankie sticking out of the back pocket of your Levi's. This is, at least, the way we at The Hustle like to imagine the 70s, as a simpler time when fags weren't thinking about marriage or picket fences and gay sex was too underground to be used as a marketing tool. We know, you're a complex human being. But just for the fun of it, look at the key below and pick a color. You can always change it tomorrow. |
